Hector
I’m Hector Ruiz, a swimming coach originally from Colombia. I represented my region in national and international competitions before swimming for Wayland Baptist University on a full athletic scholarship. Throughout my competitive swimming career, I discovered a passion for coaching and helping others feel confident in the water.
I’ve worked with swimmers of different ages and skill levels, helping them improve their technique and participating in clinics for competitive athletes, recreational swimmers, and those learning essential water safety skills.
I especially enjoy working with kids and anyone eager to learn. Whether you’re preparing for a triathlon, training for a race, building confidence in the water, or simply swimming for fun, my goal is to help you improve while making every lesson a positive and rewarding experience.
Hi, I’m Coach Liz! I’m a certified lifeguard with nearly 25 years of experience teaching private and group swim and dive lessons to swimmers of all ages and abilities.
I currently coach the University City Swim Club Masters and Youth team and have also coached Special Olympics swimmers, high school swim teams, and springboard diving. I especially enjoy helping adults overcome fears of the water and working with swimmers with a variety of needs.
With a background in elementary education, I love helping younger swimmers build confidence, improve their skills, and learn how to stay safe in the water. I also enjoy introducing diving skills to intermediate and advanced swimmers.
My goal is for every swimmer to feel successful, safe, and have fun in the pool. And my favorite thing to do in the water? Swim butterfly in my mermaid tail!
I can’t wait to see you in the water!
